Doris and Jordan Power live in one of the “stand-alone” units that the TCHC Board voted to sell on Oct. 21st, 2011. Like thousands of other families across Toronto who live in these homes, they want to stay where they are. Many of these people, including Doris and Jordan, came and told the TCHC Board in person how they felt – you can see some of the deputations in our video.
Together we can stop the sale of our homes. Please sign our petition, if you haven’t already. We want to stop this sale at City Hall. Please email your councillor and let them know that you oppose this sale. Email the Provincial Minister of Municipal Affairs & Housing, Kathleen Wynne, who has final authority on the sale. Let her know (minister.mah@ontario.ca) that you oppose the forced removal of poor people from their communities, and that you oppose the privatization of social housing. Attend events and rallies organized by us and our allies.
Finally, join us at City Hall on January 24th where we will tell Rob Ford and the Executive Committee that We Are Not For Sale! Contact us to get involved.
